Overview
ScanToDesk is designed with privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, or share any personal information. Your scanned documents are transferred directly between your devices and are not stored on our servers permanently.
Data Collection
We do not collect personally identifiable information. Here's what happens when you use ScanToDesk:
- Scanned images are temporarily stored for transfer (deleted within 30 minutes)
- Session codes are randomly generated and expire automatically
- No account creation or login required
Anonymous Usage Statistics
To improve ScanToDesk, we collect anonymous usage statistics that cannot identify you personally:
- App events: App launches, scans completed, and feature usage (no document content)
- Device identifier: A cryptographic hash (SHA256) of your device's hardware ID, used solely for license management and daily usage limits. This hash cannot be reversed to identify your device or you.
- Website analytics: We use Google Analytics on our website to understand how visitors find us. This is standard web analytics and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not track your location, browsing history, or the content of your scanned documents. All statistics are aggregated and anonymized.
Temporary Sessions
When you scan a QR code, a temporary session is created. This session:
- Expires automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity
- Contains only a random session ID (no personal identifiers)
- All transferred files are deleted when the session ends
Local Storage
The desktop application saves scanned files to your local Downloads folder (or a folder of your choice). We do not access or transmit these files after they are saved to your computer.
Third-Party Services
ScanToDesk uses the following third-party services:
- Cloudflare: Hosting and file transfer infrastructure
- Lemon Squeezy: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions. When you subscribe to Pro, Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your payment information. Please refer to Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy for details.
We do not have access to your full payment card details. Lemon Squeezy handles all payment processing as our merchant of record.
Children's Privacy
ScanToDesk does not knowingly collect any information from children. The service can be used by anyone as no personal information is required.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
